# Prompts

> Learn how to create and manage prompts in Attensira. Discover prompt strategies by industry, use AI-powered suggestions, and understand response usage to maximize your tracking.

Prompts are the foundation of Attensira. They're the conversational questions that real users ask AI tools about your industry — and the queries we run to measure your visibility.

<Info>
  Unlike traditional search keywords, prompts are full conversational questions. This matches how people actually talk to AI tools.

## What makes a good prompt

### Prompt anatomy

A strong prompt has these characteristics:

| Element              | Good Example                                                    | Bad Example                               |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| **Conversational**   | "What's the best CRM for a 20-person marketing agency?"         | "CRM software"                            |
| **Specific intent** | "Which project management tool has the best Slack integration?" | "project management features" |
| **Realistic** | "I need a tool to track customer support tickets" | "best customer support tool in the world" |
| **Natural language** | "How do I choose between Notion and Coda?" | "Notion vs Coda comparison 2024" |

## Managing your prompts

### Prompt organization

Keep your prompts organized for easier analysis:

| Organization method | When to use |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Tags** | Categorize by topic, funnel stage, or priority |
| **Prompt groups** | Bundle related prompts for bulk actions |
| **Naming conventions** | Use consistent prefixes for filtering |

### Prompt maintenance

<Warning>
  Review your prompts quarterly. As your industry evolves, so do the questions users ask.
</Warning>

Regular maintenance tasks:

* **Add new prompts** as you discover new customer questions
* **Pause underperforming prompts** that aren't generating useful insights
* **Update outdated prompts** that reference old products or trends
* **Check prompt suggestions** for new opportunities

## Using prompt suggestions

Attensira can automatically suggest prompts based on your industry, competitors, and trending topics in AI search. This helps you discover queries you might not have thought of — and ensures you're tracking what matters.

### How prompt suggestions work

Attensira analyzes multiple signals to generate relevant suggestions:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Industry analysis" icon="industry-windows">
    Common questions users ask about your product category
  </Card>

  <Card title="Competitor monitoring" icon="radar">
    Queries where your competitors frequently appear
  </Card>

  <Card title="Trending topics" icon="fire-flame">
    Emerging questions gaining traction in AI search
  </Card>

  <Card title="Gap identification" icon="magnifying-glass-chart">
    Queries where you should appear but don't
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

### Accessing suggestions

<Steps>
  <Step title="Navigate to Prompts">
    From your dashboard, click **Prompts** in the main navigation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Suggestions tab">
    Click the **Suggestions** tab to see AI-generated prompt recommendations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review suggested prompts">
    Each suggestion shows:

    * The suggested prompt text
    * Why it's being suggested
    * Estimated relevance score
    * Competitor activity level
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on suggestions you want to track">
    Toggle the switch next to any suggestion to add it to your active prompts.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Types of suggestions

**Industry suggestions** — Common queries in your product category:

> "What's the best \[category] for small teams?"
> *Why:* High-volume query in your industry with strong competitor activity

**Competitor-based suggestions** — Queries where your competitors are getting visibility:

> "How does \[Competitor A] compare to \[Competitor B]?"
> *Why:* Your competitors appear in this query — you should monitor it

**Gap suggestions** — Queries where you should appear but currently don't:

> "Best \[category] with \[feature you have]?"
> *Why:* You have this feature but aren't getting visibility for it

**Trending suggestions** — Emerging queries gaining traction:

> "Best AI-powered \[category] tools"
> *Why:* This query has grown 150% in the last 30 days

### Managing suggestions

Filter suggestions to find what's most relevant:

| Filter              | What it shows                                  |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **High priority** | Suggestions with strongest competitor activity |
| **New this week** | Recently identified opportunities |
| **Low competition** | Queries where you could easily gain visibility |
| **Your features** | Queries matching your product capabilities |

<Tip>
  Review suggestions weekly. New opportunities appear as AI models update and as your competitors change their strategies.
</Tip>

### Suggestion settings

Customize how Attensira generates suggestions:

**Focus areas** — Tell Attensira what to prioritize:

* **Product features** — Suggest prompts highlighting your key features
* **Use cases** — Suggest prompts matching your target use cases
* **Audiences** — Suggest prompts for your target customer segments
* **Competitors** — Prioritize prompts where specific competitors appear

**Suggestion frequency** — Control how often new suggestions are generated:

* **Daily** — Maximum opportunity discovery
* **Weekly** — Balanced approach (recommended)
* **Monthly** — Minimal noise, only high-confidence suggestions

## Ask Copilot for help

Ask questions like:

* "What prompts should I add for enterprise customers?"
* "Which of my prompts have the lowest share of voice?"
* "Suggest prompts for my industry"
* "Why is this prompt being suggested?"
* "What trending prompts should I enable?"

## Understanding response usage

Your plan includes a monthly response allowance. Understanding how responses are calculated helps you use your credits efficiently.

### How responses are calculated

Each prompt you track consumes responses based on:

```
Responses per month = Prompts × Locations × Models × 30 (daily updates)
```

**Example:**

* 1 prompt with 1 location and 1 model = **30 responses/month**
* 1 prompt with 2 locations and 1 model = **60 responses/month**
* 1 prompt with 2 locations and 2 models = **120 responses/month**

<Warning>
  Response usage adds up quickly. A single prompt tracked across 3 locations and 2 models uses 180 responses per month.
</Warning>

### Improvements add to usage

When you enable **Improvements** on a prompt, we run deeper analysis to generate optimization suggestions. This uses additional responses.

Only enable improvements for prompts you're actively working to optimize — not for all prompts you're tracking.

### Best practices for managing usage

* **Track what matters** — Only monitor prompts that are strategically important
* **Use defaults wisely** — Set sensible default locations and models in [Settings](/settings/defaults)
* **Delete when done** — Once you've extracted value from a prompt, remove it to free up responses
* **Prioritize improvements** — You might track 100 prompts but only need improvements on 10

## Prompt limits and plans

Your Attensira plan determines your monthly response allowance:

| Plan       | Responses/month |
| ---------- | --------------- |
| Starter    | 1,500           |
| Growth     | 6,000           |
| Pro        | 15,000          |
| Enterprise | Custom          |

<Note>
