# Referrals: give a month, get a month

> After your first win, Attensira offers you a link to give another team a month. When they start a plan with it, you each get a month.

Attensira offers you a referral link only after a [win](/agent/wins), never before. A win is the first time an engine names your brand, or links to your site, on a prompt it had been answering without you. Until your organisation has one, there is no offer and no link.

The offer reads:

> **Give a month, get a month.** Send your link to a team that should be in AI answers too. When they start a plan with it, you each get a month.

## Who is offered a link

Your organisation is offered a link once it has **at least one win** in any of its workspaces. Nothing else qualifies you: not your plan, how long you have used Attensira, or how much work it has done for you.

* A **baseline** never counts. A naming recorded when detection started, or one we could not call a first, is not a win. See [what is never announced](/agent/wins#what-is-never-announced).
* A **dismissed** win still counts. Putting the card away does not undo that the answer named you.
* A spent credit balance does not hide the offer.

Whether you qualify is decided by Attensira's servers, not the browser. If your organisation has no win, the offer does not appear, and no code is created.

## When the offer appears

The offer comes with a win, at one of two moments:

1. **After you share a win.** When a share goes through, the offer appears under the share buttons.
2. **When you close the win card.** Closing the card, or dismissing it, puts the offer in the card's place.

It is never shown when a page loads and never on its own. Closing the offer with its close button (**Not now**) hides it for the rest of that browser tab's visit, whichever win comes next. It comes back at a later win, in a new tab or on a later visit.

## Your link

The link is your organisation's sign-up link with your code on the end:

```
https://app.attensira.com/signup?ref=<your code>
```

Press **Copy link** to put it on your clipboard. If your browser does not allow the copy, the link is selected in the field so you can copy it by hand.

Your organisation has **one code**. It is created the first time you are offered the link and stays the same after that, so a link you sent last month still works. The code belongs to your organisation owner's billing account, because that is where the month is applied. If the organisation's owner changes, the organisation gets a new code for the new owner, and the offer shows the new link. A link sent before the change still carries the previous owner's code, so a month earned through it goes to the previous owner's billing account.

## What happens when someone uses it

<Steps>
  <Step title="They open your link">
    Their browser keeps your code for **30 days**. It survives signing up, signing in with Google, opening the email verification link in a new tab, and closing the tab and coming back later to finish.
  </Step>

  <Step title="They choose a plan during setup">
    At the plan step, the code goes with their checkout. It is redeemed on their billing account before the checkout is created.
  </Step>

  <Step title="They pay">
    The referral counts when their first paid checkout goes through, and the month is applied from there, as the offer says. Once their checkout goes through, the code is removed from their browser.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The rules

* **The last link wins.** If someone opens your link and then another person's, the second code is the one used.
* **One referral per billing account.** Once a code is redeemed on an account, a later link does not replace it.
* **You cannot refer yourself.** A code used on its own owner's billing account is refused.
* **A code is used only at the setup plan step.** Choosing or changing a plan later from settings does not carry a code.
* **A refused code never blocks a sign-up.** An unknown code, your own code, or a second referral is refused, and the plan starts as normal without the month. A refused code is not tried again.
* **An outage is retried.** If the billing service cannot be reached when the code is redeemed, the plan still starts. The redemption is tried again the next time that account starts a checkout.

Every failed redemption is reported to us, so a month that was promised and not applied is noticed on our side and not only on yours.

## What you cannot do yet

* **See who used your link.** The dashboard does not list redemptions or the months applied to your account.
* **Get your link over MCP or the API.** The offer is shown only in the dashboard. No [MCP tool](/mcp/tools) or [REST endpoint](/api/endpoints) returns your code or link.
